This Dummy Head is equipped with silicone ears, a tripod mount and two removable ball heads. This artificial head was designed from scratch specifically for making high-quality and true binaural recordings. There are no microphones included with this dummy head, as it was intended for customers who want to use their own microphones.
All you need to do to start recording is stick your microphones in the ear canals from inside of the head.
Alternatively, the head can be used with earbuds, such as Roland CS-10EM. You can easily put earbuds into the silicone ears, as they are meticulously designed to model human ears. We’ve tried this setup many times, and it works perfectly.
The ear canals of the silicone ears have a diameter of approximately 11.5 mm (0.45″), and can stretch to fit microphones with a diameter of up to 16 mm (0.63″).
Realistic earlobes are one of the most important components of a true binaural microphone. Every effort was made to create silicone ear models that would imitate as closely as possible the natural anatomy of the human earlobes. The silicone ears are made of high-tensile strength silicone. The ears are flexible and feel almost like natural human skin. They were cast from a mold based on a real human ear.
The most original aspect of this device is that it is equipped with two removable ball heads (both with a 1/4 x 20 thread), which allow you to mount a recording device as well as a small camera.
Thanks to the female 1/4 x 20 thread at the bottom, the dummy head can be easily mounted on a tripod. The B1-E dummy head weights approximately 2-2.5 kg (4.5-5.5 lbs)
This product, due to such features as the realistic dummy head shape and silicone earlobes is meant to help you to record a unique 3D audio effect, that will sound almost identical to what is heard by a human. The video from the camera, mounted on one of the available attachments, will only deepen the realism and quality of the recorded material.
The dummy head is made of high-quality fiberglass.
If you need any custom modifications or additional photos feel free to ask, and we will see what we can do.
Please note that the ears as well as the head can have some imperfections, such as very small holes from air bubbles, or very fine scratches. This does not affect the function or the quality of the recorded sound.
The camera and the audio recorder are not included.
