Description
This is the B1-E dummy head with the BE-P1 microphones installed in the ear canals of silicone ears. It is a binaural recording device ready to use and capture deeply immersive sound which will never cease to give the listener an impression of being in the same place where the microphone was.
MICROPHONE CAPSULES
This design uses two condenser microphone capsules with a sensitivity of -28dB, what along with very low self-noise, makes them ideal for recording quiet sounds. It can be succesfully used for recording sound effects, ambient sounds, podcasts, instruments, and ASMR videos. This dumy head is not equipped with the battery box and in order to operate properly the microphones require an external power supply with a minimum voltage of 3V. Majority of audio recorders is able to provide a sufficent voltage for the microphones. The shielded microphone cable has a total length of 1.5 m and is capped with 3.5mm gold-plated stereo jack.
BE-P1 Specs:
- Directional Characteristic: Omnidirectional
- Sensitivity: -28 +/- 3dB at 1kHz (0dB=1V/Pa) RL=2.7 kΩ, Vcc= 3V
- Impedance: 1.5 kΩ +/- 30% at 1kHz (RL=2.7 kΩ)
- S/N Ratio: 80 dB Typ. at 1kHz (1Pa, A weighted network)
- Operating Voltage: 3V (2V-10V)
- Max SPL: 119 dB S. P. L. (Typ.) at 1kHz Distortion level 3% max
SILICONE EARS
Realistic earlobes are one of the most important components of a true binaural microphone. Every effort was made to create silicone ear models that would imitate as closely as possible the natural anatomy of the human earlobes. The silicone ears are made of high-tensile strength and skin safe silicone rubber. The ears are flexible and feel almost like natural human skin. They were cast from a mold based on real human ears.
DUMMY HEAD
The dummy head is made of fiberglass. The size and shape are similar to a natural human head, which provides proper ear spacing. Additionally, the interior of the head is filled with sound-absorbing foam. Thanks to the female 1/4 x 20 thread at the bottom, the microphone can be easily mounted on a tripod. The whole device weights approximately 2-2,5kg (4.5-5.5 lbs)
The most original aspect of this device is that it is equipped with two removable ball heads (both with a 1/4 x20 thread), which allow you to mount a recording device as well as a small camera.
The Binaural Enthusiast microphone, due to such features as the realistic dummy head shape, silicone earlobes and hyper-sensitive microphones, allows you to record a unique 3D audio effect that will sound almost identical to what is heard by a human. The video from the camera, mounted on one of the available attachments, will only deepen the realism and quality of the recorded material.
Please note that the ears as well as the head can have some imperfections, such as very small holes from air bubbles, or very fine scratches. This does not affect the function or the quality of the recorded sound.
The camera and the audio recorder are not included.
